During the course of the seven hour event, fifteen students performed screenings for over 200 festival participants. Two additional outreaches were hosted on the following Tuesday at the Joseph H. Brensinger PS #17 and the ShopRite at Metro Plaza where 950 students and residents were administered health screenings by the students.

On Saturday, May 22, 2010, students from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing volunteered their time at the Everything Jersey City Festival, where they conducted free blood pressure screenings. Over the course of the day, they administered over 200 screenings and, in addition to providing information on how to manage high blood pressure through healthy habits, were able to advise those with high blood pressure to see their physician. Thanks to the efforts of the nursing students at the festival on Saturday and for the past three years of sponsorship, the Central Avenue S.I.D. Management Corporation presented Christ Hospital with a plaque to recognize its significant contribution to the festival and the Jersey City community.

Nursing students from Christ Hospital were also available at two Jersey City locations on Tuesday, May 25. They conducted more than 150 blood pressure screenings at the ShopRite at Metro Plaza and performed health screenings for over 800 students at the Joseph H. Brensinger PS#17. These events were overwhelmingly successful, and community members were able to receive vital preventative care services. Christ Hospital is proud to extend its services beyond the doors of the institution by offering quality healthcare screenings to the residents of Jersey City. As a leading healthcare provider to the community, Christ Hospital is excited for each opportunity to interact with members of the community through education and providing these services to improve their health.

The School of Nursing has been educating nurses in Jersey City, New Jersey for more than 100 years and is proud of its tradition of service to the community. The Christ Hospital School of Nursing recently finalized an agreement to establish a joint admissions program with Hudson County Community College (HCCC) and New Jersey City University (NJCU). Through this four-year program, students will be able to complete their Associate Science degree at HCCC and receive a diploma from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing. They can then continue into a sequential program to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at NJCU.
