Christ Hospital Continues Legacy
of 'Putting Patients First’ by
Doing More for Those in Need

Recently, the Wall Street Journal characterized hospitals as “miniature cities.”  Like miniature cities, hospitals consist of a complex matrix of departments, agencies and providers, both internal and external coming together in harmony to fulfill our goal - to provide safe, quality care to our “citizen patients.”  Regardless of the economic challenges currently faced by our society as a whole and the health care community in particular, we must always ensure that our mission and goal are never compromised.

It is this same philosophy – patients first –- that was held dear by the founders of Christ Hospital.  Since its inception in 1873, Christ Hospital and its staff have never hesitated to provide for those in need.  Its mission was then, as it remains today, to provide the residents of Hudson County and the surrounding areas with the finest healthcare available, regardless of the ability to pay.  The founders of Christ Hospital made their vision a reality – a community hospital that would do more by caring for more than just the physical needs of their patients.  Today, we continue that legacy.  Supported by the latest medical technology, our caring and compassionate team of physicians, nurses and support staff carry out our mission everyday by “putting patients first.”  It is the experience our patients have when they come through our doors.  A testimonial from a recent patient satisfaction survey stated: “The staff treated me more like a friend than a patient.”  That speaks volumes about the care we provide, and the patient centered manner in which we provide it.  We are committed to treating our patients with dignity and respect, always being at our best when our patients may feel at their worst.

I am honored to lead an outstanding team of highly skilled and compassionate professionals.  Each day, I witness their commitment to their patients and see how we touch their lives. In return, we are rewarded as they touch ours.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is more we can do.  Communication is the key to the success at any organization.  Email me at letstalk@christhospital.org.  Working together, we can continue to address the many challenging and changing needs that surround us and improve the healthcare in the communities where we live and work.
